ONLINE TRAINING
In response to customer demand for our outstanding training offerings, The PTR Group now offers our courses in an online, live instructor-led format.
The courses are hosted in an online environment with real embedded target hardware, creating a remote “hands on” experience. Course offerings presently include our 4-day Introduction to Embedded Linux and 4-day Embedded Linux Device Driver Development courseware. Courses in Android™ Application Development are expected by 2011.
Participants and the instructor communicate via an audio conference bridge line and view the presentation materials, whiteboard sessions, and software demonstrations via Cisco’s WebEx service. Participants use their own computers from their remote location wherever a telephone and/or high-speed Internet connection are at hand.
The PTR Online Training environment, which consists of a remote workstation connected to an embedded target, is used for lab exercises and code development. This approach creates a complete development for the student without the burden of installing or configuring operating system or development software on the student’s computer.
The only real constraint on participation in these courses is the speed of the student’s Internet connection.

Student Machine Requirements
WebEx is supported on multiple platforms including Microsoft Windows® (Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7), Apple OS/X® and IOS (iPhone and iPad), and Linux®. The remote access to the workstation is provided using the NX Client from NOMACHINE. The NX Client also is supported in Microsoft Windows®, Apple OS/X, and Linux® varieties. Both NX and WebEx clients are free to download and installation and configuration instructions are provided to registered students for each course. Verification of proper installation of the clients and access is encouraged to be performed prior to the start of the course. It is recommended that you perform the necessary verifications the week before the course is scheduled to begin, so that any firewall or other connectivity issues can be worked out in a timely manner.
Course Materials
PTR will provide hardcopy of our presentation and lab materials. You should expect to receive a pair of manuals the Wednesday or Thursday the week before the course is to be delivered. One of the manuals will contain printed copies of all the slides the instructor will present. The other manual contains a complete set of lab exercises to be performed during class.
Access Information
The week before course delivery a WebEx registration ID and password will be provided as well as the telephone bridge line number and access code. The online training login information will be provided by email, or by the instructor during the first hands-on session in the course.
